There must be some kind of way outta here
Said the joker to the thief
There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief
Jimi Hendrix — All Along the Watchtower
Time for some reminiscence: my interest and passion for rock music started when I bought a Jimi Hendrix best-of some 11 or 12 years ago. I was a late starter, it was probably in 11th grade in school. Slightly before, there has been a time when everyone in my class was listening to Nirvana, but after that only few people turned to rock music. I got into the “classics” by buying cheap compilations, and simultaneously I also listened to the latest bands like the Strokes and Mando Diao. Hendrix is still one of my favorites. And it makes an emotional difference if I listen to that best-of, or to a regular Hendrix album. It is a really good compilation, containing also some live versions, and it has a bit of a crappy sound, which I like somehow. But enough nostalgia.
This sketch made me rethink my aversion against fineliners. I guess I don’t like them because I’m lefthanded and have problems writing with them, but now I use them for sketching more often.
PS: Yes, I know that All Along the Watchtower is a Bob Dylan song.
